A multitude have rallied across Australia at pro-Palestinian protests, with organisers vowing to keep demonstrating after a ceasefire deal facilitated by the former US president in Gaza seemed to be taking effect.

Sydney Protest Draws Large Crowd

In the harbor city, the pro-Palestine organization announced a crowd of 30,000 had protested from the public gardens to Belmore Park in the central business district after a scheduled protest to the Opera House was prohibited by the state judicial body last week.

Local authorities assessed eight thousand participants attended the city demonstration, with a official saying there had been "minimal disturbances".

Countrywide Protests Mark Anniversary

Rallies were also held in Melbourne, Brisbane and west coast metropolis on the weekend to commemorate two years of killing in Gaza after Hamas attacks on October 7th, 2023 resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths in the neighboring country.

"Concerning the protest efforts, we'll absolutely continue to protest for a free Palestine... for self-determination in Gaza, for aid to be allowed in and for Palestinians to be able to rebuild Gaza," said a coordinator.

Varied Responses to Ceasefire Agreement

One protester, a Palestinian Australian residing in the city, expressed he wished the agreement would allow him to assist his senior relative, who is still in Gaza without proper healthcare, to his current home, and to discover and lay to rest his brother, sister-in-law and their four children, who have been lost contact in 2023.

Local Jewish Population Holds Commemoration

Separately, many individuals attended a Jewish memorial service on Sunday night in eastern Sydney to mark the second anniversary of 7 October. Geoffrey Majzner, the relative of a victim, an national who was killed during the attacks, was planned to address.

The coordinator commented during the protest: "Every single time the law enforcement seeks to prevent our demonstrations or court proceedings, it increases community attention... to the importance of gathering and stand up against it."
